Marketing campaigns are designed keeping in mind the consumer or the target audience.
Once the consumer relates to the theme and the so offered services, consider the campaign a runaway hit. Successful marketing campaigns are not easy to achieve. Ever heard of “Chocolate Rain” by Tay Zonday. This lad set a benchmark in marketing campaigns. How? Well, he wrote a song, became famous with people, signed up with a studio and KAZZAM! The boy’s a star overnight with the highest hits of his video on YouTube.com. But everyone cannot be plain lucky like him, right? That’s exactly why you should read the following :-
- Are you being creative for the sake of being creative? Question yourself. Don’t force yourself into imaginative ideas just for the heck of it. Make sure what you are thinking about is relevant to the topic and would have a significant impact on the audience. Make sure your graphic artist doesn’t over-do it.
- Why should any customer come to you if the same thing is being offered by someone else? You should be able to answer this question to anyone , anytime. If the same product is being offered by both, one is unnecessary. USP (Unique Selling Proposition) makes marketing a lot easier. It should be clear and concise.
- Launch the attack on a narrow front. As the competition is eliminated, your focus should become narrow. It must concentrate on a narrow range rather than going to war with every product/ service being offered by the competitor. Domino’s unlike any other Pizza joint keeps its menu minimum with one brand of soft drink.
- Choose a name which might create positive contribution to marketing process. The name of a product should be able to communicate what it does. For eg.- 2 distinguished companies from different parts of a country have their own goodwill. If a merger is to be done between them, a smart decision would be to use both their names since publicity and goodwill are further increased. For eg. – Goldwaters & Robnisons.
- Shape up your product’s personality. One of the easiest and most successful ways of connecting with the audience is to give your product a personality. Most business products/ services benefit immensely from either an actual spokesman, a celebrity spokesman, or a character spokesman. The world knows how Mickey Mouse did magic for Disney.
- Customize your offer so that it is specialized , not generic. This is the age of specialization. Specialized products for a customer in a special market, makes a huge difference. Sun Tea Jars did wonders as they charge double for a simple apparatus for brewing tea in the sun.
- Understanding buying motives. Nothing can be sold without understanding the intention of the buyer. You must be able to comprehend what the buyer wants and be ready to adjust your products and services according to that. You might discover that the audience is always looking for instant and magical results. One of the most successful has been of weight loss ads. For Eg. - LOSE WEIGHT WHILE YOU SLEEP.
- No product in the world is flawless. Take the “gutsy approach.” When you come across flaws, removing them only makes it stronger not weaker. So live up to your product by removing weaknesses. Have the guts to make the audience listen up. Carl Strokes stood up for the mayor in Cleveland. His ad campaign was largely successful as it talked of humans as one race. He said “Don’t vote for a negro, vote for a leader and vote for a character.” When he himself was an Afro-American.
- Right Pricing. Determining the correct price is extremely important. You can get fairly good ideas by studying your customers and the products they want. Also the economics of your business gives you the lowest practical prices. Presentation of your price is crucial.
- Justify any deal that’s TGTBT( Too Good To Be True). You must be able to give your customer a reason for giving them a deal that’s TGTBT. It could be to say thanks to VIP customers or anything else. This has a stronger impact than most marketers would imagine. PROVE IT, PROVE it any way you can and present the PROOF in a positive manner.
This pretty much sums up the essential elements of an Ace Marketing Campaign. Stick to the above written points and you’ll have a smashing campaign rest assured. I’m sure there are loads more, so please feel free to discuss them. And remember, KEEP IT SIMPLE!
