With all the commotion over Kajabi and it’s masterful set of features, I noticed that there was a competitor that has quietly entered into the mix that looks strikingly similar, offering a lot of the same feature set.

One big difference – it’s run on WordPress!

AND…  Only requires a one time fee!  Not monthly like Kajabi!

OptimizePress is a WordPress theme positioned squarely against Kajabi and I think it’s pretty awesome.

Here’s my OptimizePress Review

OptimizePress Review – What Is It?

OptimizePress is a WordPress theme that sits on top of your new or existing WordPress installation.  It has a ton of features, including:

  • Video – front and center – one click to add video
  • Quick creation of squeeze pages, sales pages, bonus pages…
  • Interactive prelaunch and launch pages
  • Autoresponder ready (integrates with all the big ones)
  • iPad and iPhone support
  • Built in SEO features

OptimizePress really does a ton of cool stuff, without the monthly fee.

OptimizePress Review – What I Like

For me, the big thing I love about OptimizePress…  Well two things…  Is the lack of a monthly fee and the fact that it runs on WordPress.

Kajabi is cool, but to use it you have to use a whole new system.  I’m comfortable in WordPress and every single one of my sites is built on WordPress – so the integration is easy.

I also love the fact that I can build something and I’m not tied to a monthly fee.  So, in Kajabi, if I decide to build a product or membership site, I have to continue paying every month.  With OptimizePress, I don’t have to!  Plus, I own all the data.  Where it’s stored.  How it’s backed up.  How I can get to it.

OptimizePress Review – What I Don’t Like

In comparison, the one super killer feature of Kajabi is the fact that when you upload a video it converts everything for you.  That’s is awesome.  No more waiting to have a video encoded in the best format or messing with setting I have no business messing with.

But you’d expect that stuff for a monthly fee.  OptimizePress is perfect if you’re not looking for that feature.

OptimizePress Review – Overall

Overall, I really like OptimizePress.  I think it’s an awesome idea and I’m excited to build a couple products out with it, since I know that I won’t have to pay monthly for it.  The feature set is awesome.  The look and customization of it is awesome.  And it integrates with all my autoresponder accounts perfectly.

Note that you get the Kajabi video part wrong. First of all you can only upload mp4 format video files. Secondly it might take up to 12 hrs to encode. So video publishing is definitely not a strong side of Kajabi.

If video is important to you, look at Traindom (http://traindom.com) instead. You can upload video in any format imaginable and any video will be converted within a couple of minutes. HTML5 support weith every package (unlike Kajabi).

That’s a good catch Tom. I appreciate it. I have yet to upload video into Kajabi but I figured it was like Bits On The Run or one of the other encoding services… Guess not.

Just checked out Traindom. Looks pretty cool. I’m actually going to test it out and write a review on here before long. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey What happened to the optimizer press sales page? I came back to your website to buy it and the page is down – is there a problem with it? I am bummed, today was my day to make these sites!

It must be down! It keeps redirecting.. That is a bummer! Give it a bit and I’m sure he’ll get it put back together. I’ll send him an email too :0)

Thanks for the heads up!
