Imagine what would happen to your site if it was being advertised on hundreds of similar sites for a whole week? Not in rotation, not until x number of impressions, but permanently. This is the aim of The Publicity Wheel, a new concept for generating website traffic and exposure.
The Publicity Wheel works by promoting a single website (per category) at a time through its members’ sites. At the next “spin” each week, a new website is selected and promoted once again. By giving “publicity points” to users for placing banner/text links on their site and thereby helping to promote the current winner, they have a better chance of being selected at the next spin. It could be compared to a traditional banner/link exchange program without the impressions and banner ratios, and a “one website at a time” approach. Unlike the steady trickle of traffic achieved with traditional programs, winners of wheel could receive an incredible boost in traffic.
Since users do not need the highest number of publicity points to win, it allows low-traffic sites to benefit without being concerned with ratios and impression figures. To avoid having the same high-traffic websites win each time, winner points are reset to zero whilst other users’ points continue to accumulate.
The concept may not be for everyone, but it does create a more interesting, and perhaps even fun approach to online marketing.
