You gotta love viral marketing. Within a few short hours you can get hundreds of people to sit up and pay attention to what you have to say.
We have talked about Facebook a lot here on marketingHackz. But do you really understand the true power of the social media platform?
Last week, we soft launched a Facebook page for an area college, Mercyhurst. We made it publicly viewable (mistake #1) so that we could go over it with the college’s administration. Well, to make a long story short, one person became a ‘fan’ (mistake #2). People started flooding the page.
The next two days, we rushed around trying to bring various people up to speed on editing the page and moving stuff around. It really was a chaotic experience trying to fit in to everyone’s schedule before the masses started seeing placeholder content.
What happened was one person subscribed. A notification showed up in their mini-feed. Two more people became a fan. It showed up in their mini-feed. And so on.
So now, a week later, 426 people have ‘fanned’ the page and their has been next to no real promotion!
The beautiful thing is we’re done with the Facebook page. And now we can sit back and watch a real case study in action. They have the tools to add events and message their fans and maintain the content. Let’s see how they do!
If you have been thinking about getting a Facebook page for yourself of your business, let us know. We’d be happy to put something together for you..
